AbafaziPhambili

Empowering Women, Transforming Communities

Our reach

AbafaziPhambili is a non-profit organisation founded by Sis’ Mantoa Selepe. Our Vision is based on advocating Gender Equality on the Ground to the most abandoned, neglected, and underprivileged women who are only remembered during the country’s electoral elections, and aimed at driving socio-economic change. Therefore, we focus our Mission on Economic Empowerment, Social Orientation and Political Education.   In order to address Gender Inequalities, we are guided by our espoused values, namely: Equality, Diversity, Justice, Respect, Peace, and Love

What we do

Economic Empowerment

Empowering underprivileged women with essential adequate skills to enable them to start their own businesses consequently minimise poverty and unemployment. We strive to enhance entrepreneurial anchor within the communities, the support of manufacturing local, and local trade. We believe that local economic development will thrive in South Africa where the majority of Women are economical empowered, have access to formal education, equal opportunities, and knowledge. We host business workshop where we collaborate with experts who will guide the Women on how to access funding and teaching them how to draft a business plan.  This is aimed at lessening societal evils and liberating Women from toxic environment.

Social Orientation

We offer emotional support  to the women who are in distress, oppressed by Patriarchal System, and experiencing personal hardships conducted by our psychologist. We hold monthly events themed “Conversations with Sis’ Mantoa”, providing a space for the women to raise their issues and the matters concerning their lives within the system of inequalities and Patriarchy. We take the conversations and find them the relevant institutions that may assist them. We further reach out to the young males in sensitising them with Gender Equality in order to break the stereotypical mind-set that subsequently causes Societal Evils. AbafaziPhambili believes that this different approach of reaching out to young males will assist in achieving gender equality and consequently lessens societal evils. We believe that young men should be sensitised at an early age in order to breed a normal society. We run annual charity drive aimed at elevating the plight of the community we serve

Political Education

Women, in particular underprivileged women, are politically exploited and often used for political gain where voting is concerned by the dominant leading political parties without being well informed. We empower women with education to enable them to vote having being well informed by teaching them the different political systems of South Africa. This education further enhances their knowledge of voting for the right leader who will look at their best interests. We further teach them on how to exercise their rights in a non-violent manner
